Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases a stat linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the stats of your weapon and armor. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, click it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you don't have enough of either the upgrade button will say Blocked.

The number of upgrade components needed for a specific item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increase. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller, or trading them with other players.

Many weapons can be improved by adding a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia, and others can be improved by adding an suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the item's name like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in conveying a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain amount. This is displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the highest value that a glyph could increase a stat's value by but not the amount it will actually increase the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of it.

The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If  item upgrading  have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can remove a glyph by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool.  item upgrading  will be destroyed that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, so this should not be considered a loss.

If you take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also apply the glyph to your equipment to add an additional benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and be distributed slowly to the wearer instead of all at once. This is useful for players who suffer many hits from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from various sources, such as mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token gives the player a brand new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens are also a good method to reroll the stats of a weapon and can be upgraded for better damage or other perks.

Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the item upgrade menu, however, they can still receive upgrades. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, therefore items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

In addition to reroll tokens players can also make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, but users must be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls used to raise it to the final level. This effect of lowering is most effective on Diadems and rings that don't have competing ilvl-raising options.

The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive, and it would be more fair to let people pay for it with money or a food item that allows them to change their builds without wasting time and effort. The developers do not plan to offer paid rerolls in this stage in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to level up an item upgrade. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the value of upgrading a given stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect that increases the healing or damage of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

It is important to keep in mind that upgrades can be random. In the majority of cases, a better roll is based on the glyphs. However there are occasions when a more or unique roll could occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a special item type, it's likely to gaining an additional level.

Upgrades can be expensive, especially if you are upgrading your equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost will depend on the item's base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels it has. Some upgrade tracks also require crests in order to get to the next level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and gain an additional effect. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level however. In general the effect of upgrading is increased by a value of +3.

Depending on the item's base level and its upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change too. For instance an item upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
